Prof. Abdel-Hadi holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany, where he was a DAAD Scholar from 2000 to 2004. He also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the same institution under the German Research Foundation (DFG) in 2011 and has been repeatedly invited for scientific collaborations and seminars in Portugal, Poland, and Uzbekistan.
At NRIAG, he is a core staff member of both the Solar Research Laboratory and the Solar and Space Research Department. He plays a significant administrative and academic role as Head of the Media Committee and a member of both the Space Weather Unit and the Advanced Studies of Cultural Heritage Unit.
Prof. Abdel-Hadi has supervised multiple M.Sc. and Ph.D. theses in the fields of solar energy, laser systems, ultraviolet radiation, and archaeoastronomy. His work reflects an interdisciplinary approach linking astronomy with energy, architecture, and heritage.
He has organized several major scientific conferences and workshops, including the First Arab Conference on Astronomy and Geophysics (ACAG-1), the Solar Laser Anniversary Workshop, and the “Climate Change Adaptation Strategies for Buildings and Horticulture” Workshop. His observational contributions span solar and lunar eclipses, planetary transits, and twilight phenomena across Egypt.
Among his key achievements are the development of solar laser systems and the construction of solar concentrator systems, which contribute to the advancement of renewable energy technologies. He also participated in international projects such as the Newton-Musharraf-funded NoNSToP project and collaborations with institutions in Malaysia and Germany.
Prof. Abdel-Hadi has been honored by NRIAG for his scientific presentations and contributions and continues to be a sought-after speaker on solar energy, optics, and astronomy. His seminars address both scientific and educational audiences, including topics like solar concentrators, solar lasers, and the role of astronomy in religion and cultural heritage.
With a deep commitment to advancing astronomy and science across Africa, Prof. Abdel-Hadi envisions a future where astronomy plays a pivotal role in sustainable development, education, and cultural identity. Through his work with the African Astronomical Society (AfAS) and other regional efforts, he aims to bridge scientific innovation with societal needs, particularly in the areas of solar energy and astronomical heritage.
