Junior Accountant

  1. Key Responsibilities
  • Provides accounting and administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the AfAS Secretariat office
  • Support the AfAS secretariat office by performing tasks related to organization and communication
  • Compiling the Agenda, issuing meeting invites, taking notes, and preparing minutes of meetings
  • Prepare communications, such as memos, emails, invoices, reports, and other correspondence
  • Provide support to the Project Manager in maintaining the Accounting and Payroll Systems.
  • Create and maintain filing systems, both electronic and physical 
  • Make travel arrangements such as booking flights, cars, hotel reservations, and conferencing.
  • Being a point of contact for AfAS members and a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Developing processes to improve AfAS administrative processes
  • Updating the AfAS website
  • Drafting reports and analysis of information/data at the request of the Head of Secretariat/Project Manager.
  1. Minimum Educational Qualifications

Diploma, Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Management. An Honours degree will be an added advantage

  1. Minimum Work Experience

At least one year experience in an Accounting and Administration Department within a scientific work environment
