Call for nominations for members to serve on committees of the African Astronomical Society

The African Astronomical Society (AfAS) hereby invites nominations for individuals to be appointed as members of committees of the African Astronomical Society (AfAS).

As the term of service for the new Executive Committee has officially begun, AfAS is looking to strengthen the teams of members to serve on the various committees in support of AfAS’s mission and mandate. The committees of the society are:

AfAS is a progressive and inclusive society that seeks to attract committed individuals who will be dedicated to realising the Society’s vision, mission, and objectives. The individuals will serve on the committee until March 2025. Given that the IAU General Assembly (GA2024) will be held in Africa for the first time in 2024, a focus of these Committees for the three years is to develop activities in support of the GA2024. As such, the committees’ chairs will serve on the GA2024 National Organising Committee (NOC), and the committees’ work will be motivated by establishing sustainable activities for and beyond 2024, thereby leaving a “legacy” emanating from GA2024.

Nominations should be made in writing on the nomination form below:
