SUMMARY:Transit of Mercury 2019
DESCRIPTION:Mercury’s transit of the Sun will take place on Monday\, 11 November 2019 (Mercury will come in between the Sun and the Earth). This will be visible from anywhere in Africa and may be observed by projecting the image of the Sun through a small telescope on this date at 2.35 pm CAT. The African Astronomical Society (AfAS) urges those with access to a public site and small telescopes\, which are able to project the image of the Sun\, to share the Mercury transit with the public by calling on the local community to come and witness the event. \nDO NOT look at the Sun directly through a telescope\, binoculars or even naked eyes.
